Day 3, more Kakadu

So, again, we woke up at 6am and started the truck's engine at 7. We drove on more dustier and rockier roads then before. The truck shook and bumped me almost out of the front seat while we drove into gaps and little waterways. We first went to see Twin Falls. They still flow, even though it's so hot and everything seems to be turned to a crisp. The reason for that is that through out the park there is a big sandstone plateau which absorbs the water during the wet season. Now, during the dry, it slowly lets out all the water it soaked up. The next stop is Jim Jim Falls which was the only waterfall that was dried out. After another swim in the cold cold water we headed back towards Darwin, it made a 4 hour drive. It's like driving from my home (Aalst) to the Ardennes and back. The park feels really 'nearby' Darwin if you look on the map, but still it's a very long drive to get there. The park itself is the size of the Netherlands and is listed as world heritage.

So once we got back in Darwin we got dropped of at our hostels, took a shower and most of the group met up again at 8pm in the Vic. A popular place where lots of youngsters and backpackers find food, drinks and fun. Leila from England (she reminds me of Phoebe of Friends, really xD ), Debby from England/Spain, Jana from Germany, and Chris our guide from Australia. We had a nice evening but everyone was tired after the 3 day tour. So it was all goodbyes and hugs at around 11am. We all headed our way to our comfy bed.
