Here fishy fishy!

Today I was on a hunt to find free internet and I ended up in the Northern Territory Library which is housing inside a Government building. The guard checked me and my belongings and it felt like I was at the airport. He took me knife and I got a badge in return. Anyway the library is bigger then Belgian standards and it has free internet if you get it to work. I tried to load the Facebook login page for about 1.5 hours and didn't succeeded while some of the other people happily surfed and streamed Youtube movies. I gave up on the wireless battle, reclaimed me knife and went back out in the hot hot sun.

I lost my hat, I didn't find it sins I arrived in Darwin so I'm really trying to avoid the sun by walking into the buildings shade. When walking back towards the hostel I passed the shopping street which was very much crowded. The rest of Darwin seems dead. It's kinda weird but sometimes Darwin feels like a ghost town.

While I was heading back towards the hostel I stopped at a inspiring Art places and I got my first digeridoo lesson at a local shop. If I'm going to buy one it should be one from the Northern Territory. It's kinda hard the first time you play a digeridoo but I think I'll get the hang out of it after a few days of practice. Because it soon was going to be lunch time I also made a small stop at Woolworths, a supermarket know around Australia. It has cheap(er) house brands which I often buy. So for my lunch I bought my first Spam. It wasn't spam-with-bacon-eggs-spam-and-sausages-spam but just fried spam on toast. I liked it, it's kinda like the Smack brand from the Netherlands.

In the afternoon I went to the Aquascene together with Eva and Bettina, 2 German girls I met at the hostel's swimming pool. It's quit amazing how many German people are travelling Oz. I think about 70percent of the people I meet are German. The Aquascene is just a small place near Bicentennial Park which provides people bread to feed the mass of fish that is swimming near the shore. The fish are used to the bread feeding and easily take food out of your hands. Big fish, little fish, huge fish, they all want a bread snack for 4 a clock.

After the Aquascene happening I tried to look for a stay within an Australian family. After 10ish calls I got a positive answer (so fast!) from a woman called Fiona. She sounded very friendly at the phone and soon she suggested she would pick me up at 10am tomorrow. Thrilled I found a place! According to the info I had she lives not to far from Darwin and near the McMinns Lagoon and she has 12 dogs! Can't go wrong with that! xD

Later on that night I went out to eat something with the people I got to know today, leaving my wonderful cooking in the hostel's fridge. We had something to eat, went to the party area, had a few drinks, met more German people and went home. I wanted to be fresh and awake when Fiona picks me up.
